GERTRUDE STREET
Studio Lolly was engaged by a Chelsea based charity to refurbish a disused basement space and adjoining courtyard in, both of which currently detract from the existing character of the building. The new space will provide a 'one stop shop’ mental health service which will be open to the public and existing patients. The addition of a glazed covered way adds to the use-able internal space and is a sensitive, bespoke piece of design, which responds directly to the existing hierarchy of the street facade. Key to the client brief was the use of sustainable materials. We have proposed natural clay walls, cork flooring, living green walls and even tiles made from discarded egg shells.
Following a successful planning decision, we are working up the detailed design.
